Morgan Wallen banned from AMAs despite being up for awards
On Oct. 28, the American Music Awards announced its 2021 nominees, including Morgan Wallen, who’s up for Favorite Male Country Artist and Favorite Country Album of the year. Despite those nominations, Morgan won’t be invited to participate in or attend the show, according to a statement from the AMAs’ co-producer, MRC Live & Alternative. The statement references the singer’s recent racial slur scandal, where video leaked that showed him yelling the “n” word. He has apologized since then, but it’s unclear if he followed through on donations he promised to equality-focused organizations. The apologies themselves have also been the subject of criticism. On the AMAs’ website, Morgan’s nominations come with an asterisk pointing to a footnote from MRC that explains, “… nominees are based on key fan interactions with music (including streaming, album sales, song sales, radio airplay, social engagement), tracked by Billboard and its data partner MRC Data. AMA winners are voted entirely by fans.” The statement adds, “Morgan Wallen is a nominee this year based on charting. As his conduct does not align with our core values, we will not be including him on the show in any capacity (performing, presenting, accepting).” Looking ahead, MRC vows to “evaluate his progress in doing meaningful work as an ally to the Black community and will consider his participation in future shows.” The 2021 American Music Awards air Nov. 21.
Brad Pitt’s custody appeal denied: Where that leaves Brangelina’s court drama
On Oct. 27, the California Supreme Court denied Brad Pitt‘s appeal in his ongoing custody case with Angelina Jolie. Brad — who reportedly wants joint custody of the five children under age 18 he shares with Angelina — had petitioned for a review of a ruling that disqualified the private judge who’s handled their case for years. Some backstory: The disqualification came after Angelina’s attorneys argued Judge John W. Oudenkirk had not disclosed business relationships he had with Brad’s lawyers. Brad’s legal team, meanwhile, claimed Angelina’s side knew of those relationships but failed to protest until it behoved them to do so. Brad was given 50/50 joint legal and physical custody in May 2021, and while Angelina’s first stab at getting a new judge failed, an appeals court approved her request over the summer … leading Brad to ask for a review from the state Supreme Court. Now, as ABC News points out, the two could now find themselves back to square one. “Ms. Jolie is focused on her family and pleased that her children’s wellbeing will not be guided by unethical behavior,” her attorney told ABC. A rep for Brad said the latest ruling “does not change the extraordinary amount of factual evidence which led the trial judge — and the many experts who testified — to reach their clear conclusion about what is in the children’s best interests.” According to People, the decision means custody of Pax, 17, Zahara, 16, Shiloh, 15, and twins Vivienne and Knox, 13, reverts to an agreement from November 2018. (The stars’ eldest, Maddox Jolie-Pitt, is 20 and no longer a minor.) That agreement reportedly gave Brad “more time” with the kids than he had previously but was not the 50-50 split the was granted in May.

Fans think Selena Gomez appears in a reflection on Chris Evans’ piano in new post
Talk about detective work! Some would-be private eyes on social media have decided (again) that Selena Gomez is dating her onetime celebrity crush, Chris Evans. The latest round of rumors surfaced this week after a fan reposted an Instagram Story clip of Chris playing the piano. “Whose [sic] the brunette filming bottom right corner Chris?” the TikTok user asked in the caption. “Is that Selena?!” asked more than a few fans in response. A debate ensued, with some saying the person reflected in the piano lid had longer hair than Selena does now, while others dismissed the admittedly brief and blurry snippet of a possible woman at Chris’ side as a friend or even a shadow of the piano lid. The Daily Mail traces the Selena – Chris dating rumors back to 2015, when Selena said on “Watch What Happens Live,” “I kind of have a crush on Chris Evans …,” calling him “cute,” then worrying he’d now “hate me or love me.” Photos of the two allegedly leaving the same spots together followed, though a number of them were proven to be off-base. Rumors resurfaced again when Chris followed Selena on Instagram. As of Oct. 28, we’ve heard nada from Chris or his supposed love … so we’ll go back to waiting for more news from Lizzo about her (fake) superhero love child with Chris.
Jada Pinkett Smith defends sex life comments about marriage to Will
Jada Pinkett Smith is clarifying what she said about her sex life with Will Smith on her latest “Red Table Talk,” after Twitter erupted with criticism. The Oct. 27 edition of the Facebook Watch show featured Gwyneth Paltrow and a candid discussion about sex after marriage, pegged to Gwyneth’s new new Netflix series, “Sex, Love & goop.” While Gwyneth said she’s having “the best sex of her life” after marrying Brad Falchuk in 2018, Jada responded by sharing the challenges she’s had with communication in the bedroom over the course of her 26-year marriage to Will. “It’s hard. The thing Will and I talk about a lot is the journey. We started in this at a very young age, you know, 22 years old,” Jada said. “That’s why the accountability part really hit for me because I think you expect your partner to know [what you need], especially when it comes to sex. It’s like, ‘Well, if you love me, you should know. If you love me, you should read my mind.’ That’s a huge pitfall.” She went on to discuss the importance of accountability in the couple’s communication about each person’s needs in the bedroom. “It’s uncomfortable, but it’s deeply healthy, and I think around sex, because it’s something that we don’t talk about, and there’s so much fantasy around it,” she explained. Critics soon sounded off on her comments, with some slamming Jada for talking about her sex life and open marriage on the show and others griping that Will — who revealed last month he and Jada have an open marriage — was being thrown under the bus or embarrassed. Finally, Jada got on Twitter herself. “Only because I got time today. Stop making up headlines. Watch the @RedTableTalk I did with @GwynethPaltrow for yourselves,” she wrote. “Will and I have NEVER had an issue in the bedroom. Thank you.”
Hugh Jackman slices nose in ‘Music Man’ rehearsal injury
Ouch! Just two months after Hugh Jackman revealed he’d undergone another skin cancer biopsy, having a chunk of skin removed from his nose, the actor shared a video that showed another injury in almost exactly the same spot. This time, however, it was Hugh’s hat-spinning theatrics at a rehearsal for “The Music Man” that sliced the star’s face. In a video on Instagram this week, Hugh speaks into the camera while tossing and twirling a boater hat up and around in the air. “‘So, um, people have been making a couple of comments to me, like, ‘Have you had another biopsy on your nose? What happened to your nose?'” he says, leaning in towards the the camera. “Well, the truth is, this thing is like a weapon and it hit me literally in the face and sliced me on the nose.” Joking that his Broadway “Music Man” performance “may well turn into that James Bond movie,” Hugh asks, “What was that character? Oddjob? Yeah, someone give me a little meme of Oddjob.” In the caption, he joked that “those seated in the first 5 or 6 rows at The Winter Garden Theater” should “be on the lockout for a flying boater.” “The Music Man,” starring Hugh and Sutton Foster, opens on Broadway for previews Dec. 20.
Jason Momoa on how his 12-year-old son inspired a key ‘Dune’ scene
In a new interview with Indiewire, Jason Momoa reveals he included some shout-outs to his 12-year-old son with wife Lisa Bonet in “Dune.” At least one of those moments wasn’t just an onscreen “hello” to Nakoa-Wolf, either — it was kind of inspired by him. “We had to fight numerous people, so a lot of training went into that last battle scene,” Jason recalled. “We did a bunch of stuff like Kali,” he continued, referencing a type of martial arts developed in the Philippines. “I never really learned that. My son does that. There’s definitely these intimate moments where I’m signaling to my son. That’s a Kali move, where you put your hand on your heart and put it on your head. That’s to Timothée in the movie, but that’s to my son in real life.” Jason and Lisa also share a 14-year-old daughter, Lola.
Dorit Kemsley held at gunpoint in home invasion robbery: Report
Dorit Kemsley is said to be “traumatized” after three men allegedly broke into her home in Los Angeles around 11 p.m. on Oct. 27, held her at gunpoint in her bedroom and stole her collection of jewelry and handbags. According to The Daily Mail, which was first to report the news, two of the men “grabbed” the “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star and threatened to kill her after she woke up to find them standing by her bed. A source told the outlet Dorit then begged them, “Don’t hurt my babies. Don’t kill me. I’m a mother.” They reportedly left without entering the rooms of Dorit’s 7-year-old son or 5-year-old daughter. Dorit had reportedly just returned from a wedding in London the night before. Her husband, PK Kemsley, was still across the pond and is said to have jumped on a plane back to Southern California as soon as his wife called him after the home invasion. A rep for the Los Angeles Police Department later confirmed to Page Six that the Kemsleys’ home was broken into; they did not confirm or deny that the reality star mom was held at gunpoint, or indicate how much property was stolen.
Matthew Perry is writing a memoir
Matthew Perry confirmed to People this week that he’s writing a memoir. The 52-year-old “Friends” star has reportedly inked “a seven-figure deal” with MacMillan’s Flatiron Books for the project, which remains untitled. “There has been so much written about me by others in the past, I thought it was time people heard it directly from the horse’s mouth,” Matthew tells the out, adding, “In this case, the horse’s mouth being me.” The actor, 52, played Chandler Bing on “Friends” from 1994 until 2004. A good chunk of that time was clouded by his struggle with alcohol and later, Vicodin, which he was prescribed after a skiiing accident. “I don’t remember three years of it,” Matthew once told the BBC. “I was a little out of it at the time — somewhere between seasons three and six.” His autobiography is due out in the fall of 2022.
